Facebook has introduced the development of a new application, called Facebook Home, that would replace the "home" screen on Android smartphones. According to Reuters,

"Facebook's new software will let users comprehensively modify Android, the popular mobile operating system developed by Google, to prominently display their Facebook newsfeed and messages on the home screens of a wide range of devices - while hiding other apps."

HTC and AT&T announced a new smartphone, HTC First, which already has Facebook Home ready to go. Mark Zuckerberg said, "Our phones are designed around apps and not people. We want to flip that around."

With Facebook Home, applications other than Facebook, like Instagram, Facebook Messenger and Facebook Camera are accessed through the Facebook Home app, rather than separately. This creates an integrated forum for social networking.
