Conor Kennedy did what?!

The young Kennedy, dad Robert Kennedy Jr., actress Darryl Hannah and 44 other protesters were arrested Wednesday at a climate change rally organized by the Sierra Club in Washington, D.C. The 18-year-old and other environmental activists were arrested for civil disobedience while rallying for President Barack Obama to make a decision about the proposed Keystone XL oil pipeline.

Pinning themselves to the front gates of the White House, a number of protestors including Kennedy encouraged Obama to stop the building of Keystone XL, which is a pipeline system to transport crude oil from Alberta, Canada to the Texas Gulf Coast. The group feels the pipeline will contribute to the current economic crisis and add to air pollution and global warming.

In a statement sent from his organization Waterkeeper Alliance, Robert Kennedy Jr. said, "It's unfortunate that civil disobedience is the only recourse against a catastrophic and criminal enterprise that will enrich a few while impoverishing the rest of humanity and threatening the future of civilization."

The arrested were released from custody at $100 bond apiece.

Conor Kennedy dated Taylor Swift for a few months last summer, and rumors surfaced that the singer was desperate to get back with Kennedy after her split with Harry Styles in January. Styles is a boy-band heartthrob, but Kennedy is practically American royalty, right?

Oh, and one note to T-Swift: Please don't write a song about this.
