Oscars 2013: Red Carpet Celebrity Style Improvements
Every year the Oscars' red carpet serves as a runway for the who's who of Hollywood and cinema. As the beautiful people of film make their way into Los Angeles' Dolby Theatre, a few inevitably make fashion choices that will land them on a worst-dressed list or two. Others play it safe, choosing to fly under-the-radar rather than make a statement. However, with practice, patience and a little good taste, previously unremarkable or unfortunate fashion choices can be rectified. Here are five stars whose red carpet looks have drastically improved since previous Oscars ceremonies.
Jennifer Aniston
America's sweetheart departs from her usually subtle award-show style and after a noticeable absence from last year's ceremony, graces the red carpet in a radiant red dress by Valentino.
Helena Bonham Carter
Infamous for her outrageously irreverent ensembles, Helena Bonham Carter took a subtler approach to her red-carpet look this year in a black and white Vivienne Westwood dress that - while risky by most standards, is a far more relaxed choice for Carter. Though it's indeed a safer choice than some of those of past years, it begs the question - where's the eccentric Helena that Hollywood has come to love?
Amy Adams
After a miscalculation in blue at the 2011 Oscars and a daring-if-unsuccessful, silver Vivienne Westwood number in 2012, Amy Adams got it right this year - looking stunning in a strapless princess-like, Oscar de la Renta gown.
Kelly Osbourne
In an unexpected twist, Kelly Osbourne looks shockingly, not shocking. Sporting a flattering black dress with a striking collar and open back, Osbourne retains her trademark edge with her purple pixie cut and visible tattoos, but went for an out-of-character red carpet look in this remarkably tasteful black dress.
Jessica Chastain
Jessica Chastain looks stunning in a form-fitting, sheer Armani Prive dress and Christian Louboutin heels. Exuding elegance and glamour, her champagne gown is a stark departure from her dress last year. While she looked stunning in her 2012 Alexander McQueen dress, the intricate subtlety of this year’s gown allows Chastain's naturally striking beauty to shine through and steal the show.
