As celebrities arrived on the red carpet for the 85th Annual Academy Awards Sunday, they turned heads with their glamorous fashion choices and timeless style. With that standard in mind, here are our top five best-dressed actresses on the red carpet this year.

Jessica Chastain

Jessica Chastain, up for a best actress honor, looked flawless in a strapless, sparkly nude dress by Armani Prive. The Zero Dark Thirty star never fails to impress her fans and fellow celebrities with her risky style choices despite being rather new to the scene. Paired with Chastain’s fair complexion, the nude dress suited her perfectly.Red lips and natural waves gave the look an Old Hollywood feel. Well-done Chastain!

Kristin Chenoweth

Kristin Chenoweth, who helped host ABC's pre-show segment on the red carpet, rocked a Tony Ward black and silver gown. The dress was sheer near her shoulders, sleeveless, and flared out at the bottom. The beading on the dress added just enough flair to keep the look from being too bland. Chenoweth definitely deserves the best-dressed title this year.

Maria Menuonos went a bit simpler on the red carpet this year with a tight, hot pink Romona Keveza strapless dress. The look was completed with a diamond necklace, a clutch, and a silver bracelet. The TV personality star looks gorgeous as always!

Amanda Seyfried (Twitter)

Could Amanda Seyfried be any more beautiful? The Les Miserables star wore an Alexander McQueen sleeveless, slitted turtleneck dress with her hair in a poofed up-do. The dress' embellishments and train left a dramatic impression.

Not only did Catherine Zeta-Jones deliver a stellar performance Sunday night, but she also stole the show on the red carpet. The actress wore a long nude dress with intricate gold detailing. Zeta-Jones has worn the designer Zuhair Murad’s looks before, and pulls it off here just as nicely.

Naomi Watts (Twitter)

Naomi Watts

Armani Prive was a popular choice for the best actress nominees, worn by both Jessica Chastain and Naomi Watts. Watts also carried on the sparkle trend in a black and silver one-shoulder, assymmetrical gown. With her hair in a loose, pulled back style she looked unbelievably elegant.

Sandra Bullock (Twitter)

Sandra Bullock

It'll be hard for anyone to top Sandra Bullock's look at this year's Oscars. Bullock's short sleeved, laced black gown only added to her apparent beauty. While Bullock may not be nominated for anything tonight, she remains one of the most talked about and noticed stars on the red carpet.

Charlize Theron (Twitter)

If you’re looking for grace and class, then look no further! Charlize Thereon is the definition of style in an all white Dior gown. The dress is sleek and proper, but still has a touch of sexy with its slitted, strapless top. Theron’s short pixie cut only helped accentuate the effortless simplicity of this look.

Amy Adams

This delicate powder blue Oscar de la Renta looked great on Adams. The gown had tiered layers and a full, dramatic skirt. Her look was one of the riskier picks on our best dressed list, but with her swept back hair and simple makeup, she pulled it off.
