2012 Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney will give his first post-election interview to Fox News.

According to the Associated Press, the former governor and his wife, Ann, will sit down for an interview with Fox's Chris Wallace.

The piece will air next Sunday on "Fox News Sunday with Chris Wallace."

Additional segments of the interview will air on Fox News Channel next Monday.

Romney has yet to offer a public critique of Obama’s second term or advice on a way forward for Republicans, according to The Washington Post.

Wallace said on his show Sunday that he will ask Romney how he has dealt with the defeat in the four months since he lost in the 2012 Presidential election. Wallace said he will also ask the former Massachusetts governor about his future plans and get his opinion on President Barack Obama's second-term agenda.

Fox News spokeswoman Ashley Nerz told the Associated Press the interview will be taped this week in southern California, where Romney has spent much of his time since the election.

Romney will also speak publicly on March 15 at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Washington, an annual event that draws leaders of the Republican party.

Romney has maintained a low profile since the election, rarely venturing into Washington fights over taxes, spending and Cabinet nominees.

The Washington Post said Romney’s speech at the CPAC "will come as many Republicans offer prescriptions for the party’s disappointing 2012 election and look to a new generation of leaders to compete with Democrats."

According to the Los Angeles Times, former advisors have been quoted anonymously as saying that Romney would make an upbeat speech that would thank supporters and focus largely on economic themes.

The Los Angeles Times also reported:

"It’s not clear what Romney’s post-election reemergence might mean. Virtually no one in his party is clamoring for the former Massachusetts governor to make a third try for the presidency, and defeated nominees have seldom made successful comebacks. The last Republican to do so was Richard Nixon who won the presidency in 1968 after losing to John F. Kennedy in 1960."
