Good luck to the casting directors to find faces as cute as these for the sequel!

“Girl Meets World” is one step closer to becoming a reality.

Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel have signed on to reprise their classic “Boy Meets World” counterparts Cory Matthews and Topanga Lawrence, it was announced today.

The next step in this Disney Channel equation is the namesake “Girl”. Nationwide casting has begun for the role of Riley, Cory and Topanga’s 13 year old daughter, from whose perspective the show is told.

Rumors have run rampant about this highly anticipated “Boy Meets World” reboot, making it hard to discern the facts from the enthusiastic fan fiction. What can be confirmed is that in addition to Riley, Cory and Topanga will have an older son named Elliot. Riley’s best friend will be a prickly preteen named Maya.

And in the best possible development for true “Boy Meets World” fans, the reboot will feature Cory succeeding Mr. Feeny as the town history teacher. It may be too early to assume, but judging by William Daniel’s consistent acting since the series finale in 2000, including a recent stint on “Grey’s Anatomy”, fans could possibly (hopefully?!) be treated to a little Feeheeheenay for their loyalty.

Patience is a virtue, and alas it is one that we must exercise with great effort in anticipation of “Girl Meets World” as it is still in the very early stages of development. But with original “Boy Meets World” creator and executive producer Michael Jacobs on board, and now Savage and Fishel, fans can rest easy knowing this will be a “Girl” worth fighting waiting for.
