"It's Almost Here" (Apple)
Last week Apple sent out invitations to various members of the press for a September 12th unveiling.  The image included in the invitation showed the number 12 with its shadow appearing as the number 5.  It is highly likely this event will be the unveiling of the iPhone 5.

Rumors have been swirling for months about the possible release date, pricing, and features of the iPhone 5.  Many have been proven false, but some of these rumored features are a definite possibility.

The iPhone 5 will most likely have a 4g LTE connection (a first for the series of phones), a larger screen, and it will definitely be running on Apple’s new mobile operating system, iOS 6.  Some photos also leaked online of the alleged redesign, and from the looks of it the phone is slightly thinner than the 4S due to a smaller dock connector/charging port.  Other alleged designs have the iPhone 5 sporting a ‘tear drop’ shape and even having the ability to project holographic images.  Yes, Star Wars-like holographic images.  Apple has done a good job of keeping the iPhone 5’s core features under wraps, as no legitimate leaks have surfaced.  We might get some early leaks the day before or even early on during the day of the conference, but until then speculation will continue to run rampant.  Personally, I’m hoping for those holographic projections (as are many other Star Wars geeks).

If Apple’s announcement history is anything to follow, we may even get a sneak peak at the next generation of iPods and possibly something iPad related.  Expect pre-order details for the iPhone 5 to be announced at the event, but pricing and a release date are still uncertain.  If a release date isn’t announced, it would be safe to assume it will be out sometime in the fall like the past iPhone iterations.
