USC’s final practice was much quieter, in part since the team practiced without pads. But the day ended on a high note as some much-anticipated news broke.

NCAA CLEARS SHAW FOR ’12 SEASON: Cornerback Josh Shaw was cleared to play for the 2012 season due to a successful hardship waiver. Shaw originally played at the Florida but transferred to USC due to family members becoming ill. Watch what else Kiffin had to say about Shaw and the rest of the day’s practice:

SECONDARY STRONG AS EVER: USC coach Lane Kiffin was excited to have Shaw, as he will join a loaded secondary – the best it has been in three years, according to Kiffin. Led by senior safety T.J. McDonald and junior corner Nickell Robey, the secondary has bested an injury-ridden receiver corps all spring. See McDonald speak below:

NO TACKLING IN SPRING GAME: Due to the team’s many injuries, Kiffin stated that the team will not tackle during Saturday’s spring game. The game will be a showcase to determine who will be the backup quarterback to Matt Barkley, although Kiffin has already stated he will not make a decision after the game just to do so.

The gates open at 12:30 p.m. and the game begins at 1:30 p.m. in the Coliseum. USC students and kids under 12 are free. Tickets to others are $10 and parking is $15.
