Mattel has released first-look pictures of the new Katniss Everdeen Barbie doll based on the character from the newly released "Hunger Games" film. In contrast to the usual high-heeled blonde Barbie doll, Katniss is make-up free and boyish, complete with a loose braid, Mockingjay pin and archery set.

While Katniss’ flaming Capitol costume might have been a fun outfit for the doll, the creator Bill Greening decided to make Katniss look ready for battle. He told Entertainment Weekly, “I chose to dress her in the outfit she wears during the games, since this is where all the non-stop action takes place and is instantly recognizable by fans.”

Aside from the outfit, the doll’s face also resembles Jennifer Lawrence who portrays Katniss in the film. In an interview with HitFlix, she recounted her reaction of the doll saying, “The only thing I could think to reply was, ‘I’m a choking hazard?’”

But the doll is just one of many "Hunger Games" merchandise items that fanatics can collect. Other products inspired by the triology have emerged such as a “Capitol Colours” nail polish, a cookbook featuring recipes such as lamb stew and squirrel, and even a “Train Like a Tribute” workout class.

The Katniss doll will be released in August for $30 and fans can now pre-order online.
