Numbers Game: Statistical Takeways From Brady-Manning XVI

Think you know everything there is to know about the Brady-Manning Saga? Round 16 gave us a less-than competitive game, but incredibly compelling stats. Here’s what you should know from the latest installment of Brady-Manning:
- 110: Brady and Manning combined for the most pass attempts in a non-overtime game in NFL history. Both teams, for a time, seemed to simply abandon the run-game, and after New England took a large early lead, Manning was given the green light to throw nearly exclusively. Maybe that’s how he totaled 438 yards in the losing effort.
- 2-8: (Foxboro Fate Pt. I) Manning has won a whopping two games when he travels to Foxboro. The two wins came back-to-back in 2005 and 2006, and he hasn’t won since. Manning is also 0-2 in playoff appearances at Gillette Stadium.
- 43-6: That’s Tom Brady’s career record in games played in temperatures below 40 degrees. The man has ice in his veins. That number jumps to 25-5 in games below freezing. Conversely, Manning is 8-12 and 4-7 in those circumstances, respectively.
- 14: In typical Brady-Manning fashion, Brady took home the win while Manning set yet another record, posting the 14th 400-yard passing game of his storied career.

- 58-0: Dating back to their AFL days, the Patriots have never lost a game when leading by 20 points or more at halftime. An ugly 18-point collapse versus the Colts in the 2007 AFC Championship stands out in the Brady-Manning rivalry, but the 20-point halftime cushion has never been breached, including in the playoffs.
- 155-45: Tom Brady hit a landmark Sunday, notching his 200th career start. His 155 wins are the most of any quarterback with those numbers, and he was the fastest to reach the 150 mark. In fact, Sunday was the NFL’s first game to ever feature two quarterbacks with 150 wins apiece. However, the loss temporarily pushed Manning out of the the .700 win-percentage club, leaving Brady and Joe Montana alone in that exclusive category.
- 42: (Foxboro Fate Pt. II) He may be a California kid at heart, but New England is absolutely Brady’s home. Tom Terrific has won 42 straight regular-season home games versus AFC opponents. To put that in perspective, the last time he lost at Foxboro in the regular season to an AFC team: Nov. 12, 2006 against the Jets.
- 5, 50, 500: Five looks like the lucky number for the Patriots' star tight end. With his ridiculous one-handed catch, Rob Gronkowski became the the fifth player in NFL history with 50 touchdown receptions in his first five years in the league. Want more? He also averaged over 500 yards in the past month, a personal best for that span of time.
- +83: New England leads the league in point differential and it’s not even close. The Belichick’s trademark “bend-but-not-break” defense is quietly looking like one of the best units in the league. The revamped secondary is tied for second with 18 takeaways, and contained Manning despite the potentially devastating losses of Jarod Mayo and Chandler Jones.
