A Frankfurt court has banned Uber's main ride-hailing service countrywide, saying the company lacks the required legal permits.

Despite the ruling, Uber has said it will not stop its progress and will continue operating throughout Germany. Uber's plans to appeal the decision could be risky--if they lose, Uber may face fines of almost $330,000 per ride and local Uber drivers could be arrested for violating the injunciton.

While the ruling is the first nationwide ban of Uber, there has been resistance to the San Francisco-based company in several cities throughout Europe and the United States.
