Red Robin Rolls Out First 'Finest Gourmet Burger'

On Nov. 12, Red Robin debuted its first finest gourmet burger, called “Smoke & Pepper Signature Burger." This creation was inspired by restaurateur and chef Laurent Tourondel’s “Smashed Smoke Burger,” which won the “Best of the Bash” Award at the four-day 2013 Food Network South Beach Wine & Food Festival (SOBEWFF)—presented by FOOD & WINE Amstel Light Burger Bash—that took place from Feb. 21-24. All chefs who participate in the Amstel Light Burger Bash submit the best of their burgers for the chance to win $10,000 as the “Best of the Bash” Award winner and have his or her winning recipe featured on the “Finest Gourmet Burgers” line at Red Robin.
The “Smoke & Pepper Signature Burger” is the first of the eatery’s line of “Finest Gourmet Burgers," which will feature premium beef and classier buns. This gourmet burger line will include a roundup of handmade, half-pound Black Angus beef burgers topped with a variety of premium cheeses, sauces, produce and bacon.
Red Robin’s new “Smoke & Pepper” Burger includes a half-pound Black Angus burger topped with black-peppered bacon, extra sharp Cheddar cheese, housemade “Smoke & Pepper” ketchup and Alderwood smoked sea salt sandwiched between halves of a toasted, buttered ciabatta bun. The meal is completed with a serving of Red Robin’s “Bottomless Steak Fries.” The burger itself is full of flavor, and the black-peppered bacon on top of it adds extra kick. The Alderwood smoked sea salt adds an extra level of saltiness to the gooey layer of melted Cheddar cheese. The ciabatta bun—toasted to a golden perfection—adds a unique element to the burger, as the meal features a different type of bread. Finally, the seasoned “Bottomless Steak Fries”—fries are necessary for any burger meal—round out the entrée. Full of unforgettable flavors, this new addition to the Red Robin menu is definitely a keeper.

“This new burger at Red Robin is an upscale take on a classic bacon cheeseburger,” said Tourondel, in a press release. “The sweet, smoky and peppery flavors of the sauce blend perfectly with the high-quality seasoned beef and bite of peppery bacon on this burger.”
