Rebecca Black's New Single, 'Saturday,' Has Arrived...If Anyone Cares

So I go on YouTube and start listening. Immediately, Black’s familiar valley girl voice shoots up through my headphones. I contemplate shutting it off then and there, but I’ve now reached the point of no return.
The singing starts. OK, it’s catchy, I guess. I almost forget that this is the same singer as the one of possibly the most annoying song on the planet -- even Black says she's "trying to get Friday out of [her] head". The verse progresses; the beat rises. Wait, am I actually bopping my head?
Bridge. Like any other popular song of today. As much as I'd hate to admit, it’s pretty good.
Finally the chorus. I feel an exitement spiral up my legs, wanting me to jump out of bed and start dancing. The tie between this fresh song and the one we all scoffed at a few years ago are completely dissociated in my mind.
The music video is decently entertaining, even with a Miley Cyrus reference (How current of you, Ms. Black). And she looks fabulous, to boot.
So wait...does this mean she's really done it?
Rebecca Black is making a new name for herself– and quite strategically, I might add.
Surely, she named the song “Saturday” expecting people to groan a little and look up what they’d be listening to this time for the next few months, and what would now be regretfully associated with yet another day of the week. Then, listeners would likely have a similar reaction to what I just did. In fact, it’s quite a brilliant strategy, if you think about it. I’m expecting to see her shoot to number one on the charts in due time.
To be honest, I’m kind of rooting for her. After all the bullying that girl has endured, she deserves a new claim to fame.
