Jimmy Kimmel Asks Americans: Obamacare Or Affordable Care Act?

Kimmel sent a camera crew to Hollywood Boulevard, where people discussed which one they liked better: Obamacare or the Affordable Care Act.
Both titles, of course, represent the exact same thing. But the joke was on them when many answers apparently suggested otherwise.
And it appears that many Americans are just as confused. A recent poll from CNBC found that 30 percent of people don’t know what the Affordable Care Act is with only 12 percent not knowing when asked about Obamacare.
The survey also found that 29 percent of the public supported Obamacare while only 22 percent supported the Affordable Care Act. But how can this be when both names represent the same law?
Another poll from the Kaiser Family Foundation found that 57 percent of people didn’t have enough information to know about how the Affordable Care Act would affect their lives. And while they found that most were in favor of all the separate components of Obamacare, when asked how they felt about “Obamacare,” most were against it.
“Interestingly, the polls show that most Americans say they don’t like Obamacare but they love wheat’s in it when it all gets broken down. It’s like the opposite of a McNugget,” Kimmel joked.
When asked which she preferred, one woman told the camera crew the Affordable Care act was “better.” When asked about Obamacare she replied, “I think there’s a lot of holes in it, and I think it needs to be revamped.”
The crew asked another man if he though Obamacare was “socialist.” His response: “Yes I do.”
But as for the Affordable Care Act, the man responded that he did not think it was socialist.
The camera crew asked yet another man, “So the Affordable Care Act is more affordable than Obamacare?”
“Just the name says it all,” he replied.
Another man even claimed that Obamacare was “un-American,” but not the Affordable Care Act.
Yes, Kimmel’s spoof makes for a great laugh. But there are some serious implications to consider like just how informed the American public is when it comes to Obama’s health care law whether it be American, un-American, socialist, or not.
