Student Charged With Murder After High School Stabbing

Twelve hours after the fatal Wednesday morning stabbing at Spring High School, authorities have the alleged aggressor in custody.
The incident occurred just after 7 AM in the Houston area high school. Student tweets indicate that the fight began in the cafeteria, quickly triggering panic throughout the 3,000 students.
Supposedly ignited by racial tension between black and Latino students, the introduction of a knife into the fight ended with the death of one student and the injury of three more.
After questioning by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, 17-year-old student Luis Alonzo Alfaro admitted to having used the knife.
Alfaro is currently standing murder charges.
"There is some information that this may have been gang related," said Adrian Garcia, the Harris County Sheriff in a statement Wednesday night.
Yet, local pastor, E.A. Deckard adamantly denied any gangs affiliated violence contributing to the fight.
“It was an ongoing battle between kids [of different races]," said Deckard. "A simple misunderstanding that has been ongoing over a period of time."
In light of the tremendous trauma that the event has caused students, the school district has decided to remain closed for the rest of the week.
While the first bits of information about the stabbing trickled in from Twitter and other forms of social media, these same sources present signs that the racial tensions in the community are far from over.
Racial slurs and death threats fill the R.I.P. Josh Twitter page created in classmates and friends of the 10th grader who died in the Wednesday violence.
Although there are no easy ways to recover from school tragedies, it appears that this specific community has much to do before anyone can enjoy much peace of mind.
