Santa Monica Airport Crash
Fire officials examined the crash, which they said resulted due to the plane veering to the right side of the runway and crashing into a nearby storage hangar.
Santa Monica Airport Comissioner, David Goddard, held a press conference Monday morning expressing his gratitude that the plane hit the storage unit versus nearby residents.
The commissioner said the crash was “tragic, but I was certainly grateful that it happened on the tarmac ... versus off the end of the runway.”
The plane was registered to Creative Real Estate Exchange LLC and the owner lives in Malibu, according to FAA records. The plane had made eight flights between Hailey, Idaho and Santa Monica since Sept. 15.
National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the tragedy.
