LA Street Food Fest Takes Tasting To New Heights

Well, we've discovered an event that gives new meaning to the word "gluttony" -- but in a good way. Just trust us.
The 4th annual LA Street Food Fest fed thousands of people at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, CA on Saturday, June 29. The event was packed with hungry patrons hunting down their favorite bites under the California summer sun.
Animal proteins ranged from Santa Fe chicken empanadas to sweetbread tacos and everything in between, while vegetarian dishes incorporated jackfruit, quinoa and tempeh.
When it came to breads, Rivera's flower-pressed tortillas and Starry Kitchen's buttermilk beer beignets were just two of the multitude of carb-licious delights.

Whimsical ice cream cone-shaped decorations hung from the sky, and underneath lay a multitude of ice cream creations, in addition to some very unique non-frozen desserts.
One of many standouts included an innovative frozen treat featuring two warm churro-style cookies, sandwiching a smooth vanilla custard ice cream. The hot-and-cold delight was served up by The Churro Borough, and the line to taste their creation was even longer than the lines at most other tents.
Fluff Ice's refreshing honeydew and kiwi flavored ices also hit the spot, and Float's "Puckerin' Peach" ice cream float was perfectly tart and creamy; a refreshing rendition of summer in a cup.

Bacon is still going strong as a food trend, and it was present in many forms at the annual food fest. This time, it was used most in desserts. Bacon was infused into Cream'wich's ice cream sandwiches, and even adorned the tops of Mwokaji Cakery's red velvet cupcakes. The Donut Snob also fried up pillowy maple cinnamon bacon doughnuts in addition to its orange pistachio flavor.
Speaking of doughnuts, the soon-to-open ICDC offered up a delicious preview of its freshly fried treats. Its smoked vanilla glazed doughnuts settled perfectly into the microscopic pockets of stomach real estate diners had left by the time they got to the epic dessert section of the festival.

Twists on classics were abundant, as the Dog Haus made flavorful Reuben dogs with a pastrami sausage on a sweet, pillowy bun, all topped with coleslaw.
To wash it all down, Pressed Juicery's green juice and Nevera Juice Bar's cucumber agua fresca provided delicious and nutritious hydration in the heat. Pressed Juicery also offers juice cleanses featuring their delicious blends-- stay tuned for our review of their famous juice cleanse.
