Snowden's Father Says He May Return To U.S.

In an interview with NBC News, Lon Snowden, Edward Snowden’s fathers believes that his son would return to the United States to face trial if his conditions were met. According to Lon, “his son may return if he is not detained before trial, nor subjected to a gag order, and can choose where his trial is held.” He also emphasized that Edward’s lawyer had relayed these terms to the U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder. Lon Snowden additionally, stated, "At this point I don't feel that he's committed treason," he said. "He has in fact broken US law, in a sense that he has released classified information."

Snowden fled from Hong Kong last Sunday and flew to Moscow's Sheremetyevo Airport where he is said to be in a transit zone.
However, as BBC reported, “Ecuador says it has not yet processed the former US National Security Agency contractor's request for asylum.”

During diplomatic conversations, the United States accused China of “misbehaving” by permitting Snowden to leave Hong Kong. According to BBC, the government of Hong Kong responded by stating that, “the U.S. arrest paperwork had clerical errors, and that it had no legal basis to stop Mr. Snowden travelling to Russia.”

The Russian Government has made it clear that they were not aware that Snowden’s passport had been revoked at his time of entry.
