Hillary Clinton Supports Equality And Gay Marriage
Hillary Clinton voiced her support for same-sex marriage Monday in a video message on the Human Rights Campaign website. The six-minute video featured numerous statements by Clinton that not only emphasized the importance of equality but also positioned Clinton as a key supporter in upcoming Supreme Court cases regarding same-sex marriage.
Clinton, according to The New York Times, hadn't come out in support of gay marriage prior to this statement but did take steps as Secretary of State on behalf of gay couples. Her message Monday was clear:
“L.G.B.T. Americans are our colleagues, our teachers, our soldiers, our friends, our loved ones, and they are full and equal citizens and deserve the rights of citizenship,’’ she said. "That includes marriage."
As the video spreads nationwide the Supreme Court will gather soon to rule on landmark equality cases.
