As the search for rogue ex-LAPD officer Christopher Dorner continues into its fourth day, police are scaling down their manhunt efforts in the Big Bear Mountains and will announce a reward to be set this afternoon of $1 million for any information leading to his arrest.

Dorner who is wanted in the killings of three people and the wounding of two others, fled to Big Bear Lake Thursday where authorities focused their efforts after Dorner’s vehicle was found in the area. Police no longer believe Dorner to be in the mountains though they plan to maintain a light presence of 50 officers.

LAPD has also announced the re-opening of Dorner’s disciplinary case that led to his firing in 2009 which apparently set off his murderous rampage this week.

Chief Charlie Beck said Saturday that the case would be re-examined to address allegations of racism enumerated in Dorner’s manifesto and to reassure the public of the department’s integrity on the issue of race.

According to the Los Angeles Times, in 2007 Dorner accused his training officer, Teresa Evans, of kicking a mentally ill man during an arrest. After investigation proved Dorner had lied, he was dismissed in 2009 for making false statements.
