Endeavour, the space shuttle making headlines, will be on display for the public in its new home at the California Science Center on Tuesday.

The introduction exhibit “Endeavour: The California Story” will include highlights of the shuttle’s history including images of its local construction in Downey and Palmdale, Calif., along with films displaying the great Endeavour in action.

Visitors will be able to view artifacts that accompanied it into space and touch the toilet, galley and the very tires that landed the shuttle after its final mission.

For a complete experience, equipment from the Rocketdyne Operational Support Center will also be displayed with audio and visual sequences from its 25 launches and guests can assimilate Endeavour’s mission like a true astronaut in a Pulseworks simulator ride.

While its permanent home in the Samuel Oschin Air and Space Center is being built, guests can see the 20-year-old space shuttle Endeavour up close in the Samuel Oschin Pavillion. The shuttle viewings are in 15 minute intervals and the California Science Center encourages guests to buy tickets to view the shuttle prior to its opening.

For more information and to purchase tickets, visit the website.
