“I think we need to take a deep look at what we are doing.  We will be in North Carolina tomorrow night and we will look and see what the results are,” Gingrich told NBC News Monday.

Delaware is a winner-take-all state and a victory there would garner Gingrich 17 votes, but it would most likely be too little, too late for the former House Speaker. He has spent the last few weeks campaigning in Delaware.

Gingrich previously stated, on multiple occasions, that he would stay in the race all the way up until the Republican National Convention in August.

“Gov. Romney is clearly the frontrunner but that doesn't mean he is inevitable.  It is very dangerous for frontrunners to start behaving like they are inevitable because the voters might decide that’s not so true,” Gingrich told a few dozen supporters Monday.

Romney, the presumptive nominee, is set to kick off his general election campaign in New Hampshire Tuesday, regardless of the outcome in Delaware.
