"Iron Man 3" Gets Its Villains
Just last week, The Hollywood Reporter announced that Ben Kingsley (“Hugo”) was in talks to join the star-studded cast of “Iron Man 3” and now Variety has reported Guy Pearce (“Momento”) will play villain Aldrich Killian.
In the comics, Killian is a geneticist who creates a serum that gives power to both terrorists and Iron Man himself. Kingsley’s character has not yet been identified, but it is know that he will be responsible for spreading a virus through nanobots. Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle and Scarlett Johansson will also reprise their roles in the next part of the franchise.
While the two previous films were directed by Jon Favreau, Shane Black will take over for the next film. Black previously worked with Downey in 2005 on “Kiss Kiss Bang Bang.”
Production of “Iron Man 3” will begin in North Carolina next month and the blockbuster is scheduled to hit theaters May 3, 2013.
