FitGirl: The Hidden Calories In Drinking

When polled, 15 USC female students said they drink, on average, four to five shots or mixed drinks per night of drinking; not including chasers, they are consuming roughly 400-500 calories. Between alcohol, chasers and drunk eating, the calories add up and you end up regretting more than bad decisions and dreadful Facebook photos.
Let’s face it, typical college parties have two choices: cheap hard alcohol and beer. Occasionally a group of friends might plan a wine night but those get-togethers are not as common. After looking at the calorie content in hard liquor, beer and wine, there seems to be no low-calorie option.
Chasers also add on to your calorie count, unless you are one of those anal people that double checks you are drinking diet soda every single time. After a night of drinking, visits to fast food joints are also common; ruining any calorie-burning work out you did earlier.
Check out the tables below to tally up your own typical night of drinking. The results might surprise you.

Although sizes of wine glasses vary, 5 oz of wine has the same amount of alcohol as one shot of hard liquor and a 12 oz beer. Most wines are around 100 calories per 5 oz, but wine glasses vary from 8 to 10 oz.
There are minimal benefits to drinking moderate amounts of alcohol, such as stress relief but consuming extra calories with little nutrition value, late at night a few nights a week can add up.
