Paula Abdul, Nicole Scherzinger Fired From “X-Factor”

A show insider claims the show's creator, Simon Cowell, made the final decision to fire the three personalities after lower than expected ratings throughout the season. The show averaged 12 million viewers, far lower than the 20 million Cowell predicted. In addition, NBC’s “The Voice” was hailed as a success before “X-Factor” premiered, stealing some of the excitement and anticipation for the FOX show.
When the news broke of Jones’ firing Monday evening, the former host took to his Twitter and wrote, “I won’t be hosting next seasons “X Factor” which is a shame but I cant complain as I’ve had a great time. Good luck to everyone on the show.”
E! News recently quoted a source close to Scherzinger that it was in fact the singer’s choice to leave the show. “She wants to focus on her music career. She’s spoken to Simon and he’s given her his blessing. “X Factor” took a lot more of her time than she ever expected. She didn’t have any time really to work on her music.”
Abdul, who was personally recruited to join the show from Cowell, received the news from a lawyer instead of her boss according to TMZ. Many blamed Abdul for the early dismissal of fan favorite Rachel Crow after advising Scherzinger to let the decision be made by the public vote.
No replacements have been named for season two.
