Pop-country princess Taylor Swift took home entertainer of the year at the 45th Country Music Association Awards at Nashville's Bridgestone Arena Wednesday night. But it was The Band Perry who came out the big winners of the night. 

The trio of siblings took home a trio of awards, including single and song of the year for their hit “If I Die Young.” They also won new artist of the year. They were nominated in two additional categories, including vocal group of the year, which went to another trio, Lady Antebellum, for the third consecutive year. Their fifth nomination, music video of the year, went to Kenny Chesney and Grace Potter for “You and Tequila.” 

Another family duo took home a pair of awards, as the recently married Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton won female and male vocalist of the year, each for the second consecutive year. Sugarland won vocal duo of the year for the fifth consecutive year, and Jason Aldean rounded out the night with two wins of his own, album of the year for "My Kinda Party," and musical event of the year for “Don’t You Wanna Stay” with season one American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson. 

Of course, country music’s biggest night isn’t just about the wins. Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley took the stage together for the fourth year to host the star-studded night. They were joined by Hank Williams, Jr., Miss Piggy and Little Jimmy Dickens as a Justin Bieber impersonator in a few comedic sketches poking fun at recent celebrity scandals. 

The hosts weren’t the only ones to bring special guests on stage. Blake Shelton kicked off the night with a performance of “Footloose,” joined by Kenny Loggins. Gregg Allman joined the Zac Brown Band for “Georgia On My Mind.” Rascal Flatts brought Natasha Bedingfield to the country stage as they performed “Easy,” and Chesney and Potter reunited to sing “You and Tequila.” The hosts themselves joined forces in another musicals performance, singing “Remind Me” on stage together for the first time. 

Among a slew of mostly mellow performances, two medleys stand out from the rest. Lionel Richie graced the CMA stage in a sort of preview for his upcoming country album, singing “Deep River Woman” with Little Big Town, “Stuck On You” with Darius Rucker, and “Dancing On The Ceiling” with Rascal Flatts. 

Toward the end of the night, Paisley, Vince Gill, and Keith Urban came together to pay tribute to country legend Glen Campbell, who announced earlier this year that he has Alzheimer’s disease. Songwriter Jimmy Webb played piano as the men sang Campbell classics, including “By the Time I Get to Phoenix” and “Galveston.” Campbell was seen in the audience, singing along, before joining the boys on stage.
