It looks like America won’t be rolling in the deep with Adele this year, as the British songstress canceled her upcoming U.S. shows on her tour due to voice problems.

E! News reports that a vocal cord hemorrhage caused the sudden cancellations, and that doctors have advised "an extended rest period" while she recovers.

The shows cancelled range from New Jersey to Texas, but it looks like she is still slated to perform at her U.K. shows in November – for now.

Shows as early as Friday have been cancelled, and full refunds are available for fans affected by the cancellations.

In a blog entry on her website, Adele describes the illnesses and voice problems she has experienced over the past year, and apologizes to fans for the cancellations.

“I have absolutely no choice but to recuperate properly and fully, or i risk damaging my voice forever,” the singer writes. “i have great confidence in believing you know how much this upsets me, how seriously i take it and how truly devastated and annoyed i am by this. ... i will be back and im gonna smash the ball out the park once im touring again. i apologise from the bottom of my heart, sincerely i do.”

According to the entry, the singer has been battling different illnesses during the tour. Earlier in the year, Adele also addressed her recent illnesses. At a Leicester show, she joked with the audience, "Thank God I'm f***ing well. I've been ill as a dog."

This isn’t the first time Adele has had to cancel shows because of illness, though. Earlier this summer, she cancelled her North American tour after a bad bout of laryngitis.

Fans appear to be supportive of the singer as she takes a break. Comments on her blog read, "Get better Adele. We'll still love you all the same. You are well worth the wait so rest up! Not disappointed in you at all and completely understand," and "Hope it sorts out for you!! We want nothing more than for your voice to get better, what are we going to do if we don't get more songs?"

Listening to “21,” Adele certainly has a set of pipes. Though it may be disappointing for fans, a break to heal is certainly a good thing. Here’s to hoping she fully recovers and is able to continue belting those ballads.
