Gaddafi And Friends Wanted By Interpol
As noted by the organization’s website, the notices come as the International Criminal Court demands that international players look out for the ousted leader:
INTERPOL has issued Red Notices for Libya's Muammar Gaddafi, his son Saif Al-Islam Gaddafi and former director of military intelligence Abdullah Al-Senussi after the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC), Luis Moreno-Ocampo, requested the world police body to issue internationally wanted persons notices against the Libyan nationals for alleged crimes against humanity, including murder and persecution.
The notices contain “essential identifying and judicial information” regarding the three men, the statement said.
Interpol, the 188-nation international police body, includes Algeria, Burkina Faso and Niger – three countries that have reportedly sheltered family and regime officials close to Gaddafi during the fall of Benghazi. Doubts persist as to whether any of the countries may be holding the toppled dictator.
Meanwhile, conflict continued in Libya as National Transitional Council (NTC) rebels took on Gaddafi loyalists in Sabha, Sirte, and Bani Walid. The National quotes one NTC fighter who had just "escorted" the body of a dead rebel from the front lines:
"This settles it," growled Salem Moussa Omar, one of the fighters who escorted his body on the nearly six-hour drive from the front line near Sirte. "Sirte is going to be destroyed. They should taste what Libya has tasted for the last six months."
