Top Prospect Mike Trout Called Up By Los Angeles Angels

Trout, just 19 years old, has hit for a .330 batting average and .966 OPS for the Double-A Arkansas Travelers, adding nine home runs and 28 stolen bases.
A spot on Angels' 25-man roster will need to be opened up via a corresponding move. Outfielder Peter Bourjos left Thursday's game earlier after an injury to his right hamstring. According to Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register, Bourjos's injury may not be serious enough to warrent a DL stint, especially with the All-Star break forthcoming.
The Angels' first-round pick in the 2009 MLB Draft, Trout was ranked as the second-best prospect in all of baseball earlier this week by Baseball America.
Trout's status as a center fielder with elite potential is without a doubt in the baseball world. Kevin Goldstein of Baseball Prospectus ranked him number two among all prospects in his preseason rankings, behind only hyped Nationals prospect Bryce Harper, saying Trout's "combination of tools and baseball aptitude is nearly unheard of for a teenager."
The New Jersey native will become the youngest player in Major League Baseball, and will don a #27 jersey when he joins the Angels on Friday night in Anaheim, as the team takes on the Seattle Mariners. The Halos stand at one game behind the Texas Rangers in the American League West division.
