- The LAPD joins a statewide crackdown today on drivers texting or talking on cellphones, KTLA reports. The "zero-tolerance" will last until the end of April, which has been labeled Distracted Driving Awareness Month in California.
- An LAPD officer was shot early this morning, the L.A. Times reports. The shooting occurred after the officer responded to a domestic violence call in the Valley.
- Trains will roll down the first phase of the Expo line today, however they will be pulled and not move under their own power. It’s only a testing phase, the Source says, but still a major milestone. The new light rail line is expected to open partially for business in November.
