The Giants fan attacked after Thursday’s season opener at Dodger stadium is in a coma, the Associated Press reported this weekend. Police say two suspects in Dodger gear attacked the man and two others after the game. LA Observed has the media’s reaction here. It seems likely the Dodgers will take some action to clamp down on what many see as an unsafe atmosphere at the stadium. 

• The LAPD joins a statewide crackdown today on drivers texting or talking on cellphones, KTLA reports. The "zero-tolerance" will last until the end of April, which has been labeled Distracted Driving Awareness Month in California.

• Trains will roll down the first phase of the Expo line today, however they will be pulled and not move under their own power. It’s only a testing phase, the Source says, but still a major milestone.  The new light rail line is expected to open partially for business in November.
