Defensive lineman Jalen Grimble, who was formerly committed to USC but was dropped by the Trojans, signed with Miami early Wednesday morning.

Grimble is the cousin of USC freshman tight end Xavier Grimble. Both attended Bishop Gorman High in Las Vegas. Xavier, the No. 1 tight end in the nation last season, redshirted this season after being bothered by nagging injuries.

Jalen verbally committed to USC last May, but the 6-foot-4, 255-pound lineman chose Miami over UCLA and Nebraska after USC apparently stopped recruiting him in January. Miami coaches Brennan Carroll and Jethro Franklin had both recruited Jalen while they were coaching at USC.

Jalen is listed as a five-star recruit at defensive tackle by Scout and garnered four stars as a defensive end from ESPN and Rivals.
