Will Loss To The Pack Get Singletary Sacked?

All Wade Phillips and Brad Childress want for Christmas is a new job.

Mike Singletary just hopes to keep his.

Phillips was fired as head coach of the flailing Dallas Cowboys in early November after a humiliating 45-7 loss against the Green Bay Packers. Offensive coordinator Jason Garrett, who has only been able to improve their record to 3-8, replaced Phillips.

Just two weeks later, Childress was relieved of his duties as head coach of the Minnesota Vikings, with defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier taking his place. Even so, Minnesota has stumbled through a lackluster season that has them sitting at a dismal 4-7.

Many had high hopes for the Vikings this year after quarterback Brett Favre produced a shining 2009 season and Minny went 12-4 and just barely missing out on a Super Bowl berth.

But that has not been the case in 2010 and so Childress was let go after a 31-3 beat down, courtesy of the Packers.

See a pattern here?

If so, the next NFL coach on the chopping block will be Mike Singletary.

The man at the helm of the San Francisco 49ers is best known for his sweatsuits, wooden crosses and inability to produce a winning team. The 49ers (4-7) will take on the Packers this Sunday at Lambeau Field, where Green Bay is 4-1 at home.

San Francisco was a preseason favorite to take the less-than-competitive NFC West but has fallen short in every regard. A win against the hapless Oakland Raiders kept the 49ers from an 0-6 starting record, but that’s not saying much.

The biggest flaw on the sidelines at Candlestick Park is the coaching staff’s failure to communicate. If there was ever a dysfunctional family, this is it.

Is Alex Smith going to stay in the game? Should David Carr start warming up? Does Anthony Dixon gets touches if Brian Westbrook struggles?

These are all apparently questions that can’t be answered and so the 49ers maintain on their losing path (beating Arizona last week doesn’t count).

Change must come to the Bay, leaving just one question left to be answered.

Will the Packers send Singletary packing?
