Appeals Court Suggests Narrow Prop. 8 Ruling

The Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals heard Monday arguments for and against Proposition 8, which defines marriage as between a man and a woman.

Though no decision has been made by the court, the three-member panel of judges hinted that they would rule same-sex marriage constitutional in the state of California, shying away from saying same-sex marriage is a right under the U.S. Constitution.

After the appeals court makes its ruling, it is expected the case will then head to the U.S. Supreme Court.
