The race is on to find hip-hop gold that the best rapper alive stashed in some of his favorite cities and online.

Jay-Z partnered with Microsoft’s search engine Bing to promote his book, “Decoded.”

Fans can use Bing to find physical pages of “Decoded” scattered in locations around the world that have to do with Jay-Z’s roots, or locate the pages virtually.

Players prove their skills by texting the codes on each page they find to enter a contest for various prizes and a well-deserved grand prize — tickets to see Jay-Z perform on New Year’s Eve in Las Vegas with Coldplay.

The pages are not exactly hidden, but displayed in unique ways, like on pool tables, in swimming pools or on bronze plaques, according to billboard.com.

The interactive Bing website details the four W’s of the game: what pages have been found, where they were found, who found them and when they found them. It also provides something more important — clues to find the next page.

“Decoded” reveals the meaning behind some of Jay-Z’s most famous — and infamous — lyrics and narrates the hip-hop mogul’s life from Brooklyn’s projects to sold-out arenas.

The book was written a few years ago, but Jay-Z had reservations about releasing his autobiographical work.

"It's too much. For the book, I was interviewed, people close to me were interviewed. So I was learning a lot of things I didn't know as a child,” Jay-Z told Rolling Stone in June 2010.

Because the book was completed several years ago, it is unknown whether additional chapters have been added to include Jay-Z’s recent years and accomplishments.

Jay-Z worked with editor Dream Hampton to write the 336-page book, published by Spiegel & Grau.

“Decoded” hits bookstore shelves Nov. 16 and the Bing contest ends Nov. 20.
