Meg Whitman will be in San Jose campaigning at Zazzle at 11:45 with New York mayor (and fellow billionaire) Michael Bloomberg.(Zazzle is an online retailer that allows people to print t-shirts and posters using their own artwork.)

Yesterday Jerry Brown was in San Diego emphasizing the importance of funding public education and criticizing Whitman for her excessive spending.

Jerry Brown released a campaign report yesterday showing that he's spent $25 milion so far and has $12 million left for the final two weeks of the campaign.

That's a pittance compared to Whitman's $163 million.

Voter turnout will likely be as high this election as it was in 2006, but the Pew Research Center found that Republicans are far more engaged than Democrats are. "Currently, 46% of registered voters favor the Republican candidate in their district or lean Republican, while 42% favor the Democratic candidate or lean Democratic," the report said. More Republicans than Democrats have also said they've been reached by phone

The polls show Brown has an 8-point lead. He continues to attack Whitman for her proposal to eliminate the capital gains tax, while Whitman argues that the tax stymies job growth:

"My business is creating jobs, and yours is politics," she said. "You've been part of the war on jobs in this state for 40 years."

Yesterday Whitman talked water at a fruit-packing plant in Fowler.

Brown's wife, Anne Gust, serves as his political confidant.

At a campaign stop yesterday, Whitman lashed out at Brown for "lying to Latinos about her."

The California Nurses Association is following and taunting Whitman for the remainder of the campaign.

"I think the important thing is wherever she is to remind people that nurses, firefighters and teachers oppose her policies and why she's bad for California," Jacobs said.
