There are a couple of trends that are so good, so desirably wearable, that they can't help but repeat themselves nearly every decade.  These trends are like cats with nine lives - they just never seem to die.  This season, one of my favorite trends of all time is back to use up one of its endless lives.  Ladies and gentlemen, the biker trend has returned in full force, and I must say, it is better than ever!

The big guns, like Balmain and Alexander Wang, are embracing motorcycle chic this season, and the high-street labels are hot on their black leather heels. Top Shop, Zara and other affordable ready-to-wear brands are hauling out the metal buckles and studs this fall, and the look is so versatile that even us sunny California girls can pull it off.

I know you are wondering how I can even begin to think about leather, flannel and boots while it is still 100 degrees in Los Angeles.  In the past, the tough-girl biker look has been all about heavy boots and leather pants and while that still may be the case this season, there are also numerous other options that can keep us comfortable until chillier temperatures roll through our warm climate.

To start keeping up with the trend right now, here is my favorite warm weather biker outfit this week: a sundress with motorcycle boots.  This was a look that was seen at all of the music festivals this summer.  From Coachella in California to Glastonbury in England, stylish concertgoers were decked out in their favorite summer essentials on top, and their most tattered and lived-in moto boots on the bottom.

Contradictory?  Maybe.  Trendy?  Most definitely.  This look personifies what the young, fashionable girl of summer should look like and it makes me wish this warm weather would stick around a bit longer so I can create as many summer biker glam outfits as I can.  However, after drooling over Alexander Wang and Balmain's Fall '09 collections, I also find myself awaiting a temperature drop so I can focus a bit more on the darker chopper-inspired pieces that are going to be dominating this fall.

Here are some of my favorite fall pieces to look out for:
-Alexander Wang's collection of slinky, long-sleeved mini dresses that can and should be worn with tights and motorcycle boots.
-Balmain's suede boots, with several buckles and zippers decorating the sides.
-Lace leggings from Kova and T and Intermix.
-Motorcycle boots from Jimmy Choo, Top Shop and Frye.
-Leather Jackets from A.L.C., Rick Owens and Zara.

So ladies, pull out your mini-dresses, put on your motorcycle boots, and get your studded headbands and leather pants ready for fall, because the biker look is back....  for now anyways.  Harley Davidson not included.
