Officials say they were the fiercest to rip across Southern California in a decade, with gusts in some areas reaching 100 miles per hour. Now, hundreds of thousands are left without power.

There have been just three October days with measurable snowfall in Central Park in the past 135 years. 

VIDEO: Effects of the storm could be felt as far north as New York where high winds and heavy rain hit areas of the state. The storm's wrath is also beginning to be felt in areas of the Midwest with flash floods and hail "the size of softballs."
