The recent battle over same-sex marriage in California has produced several leaders in the areas of policy change and gay rights. But while many of these activists operate on the streets or in City Hall, one West Hollywood resident is using the dance floor as his space for social change. Willem DeVries, a professional dancer and ballroom instructer, who specializes in same-sex ballroom dancing, is making a political statement and teaching the world what modern ballroom dancing is like, one routine at a time.
