Teachers in the nation's third largest school district announced a strike Sunday night after negotiations with school officials failed to produce a resolution. More than 400,000 students and their families will be left to fend for themselves as more than 26,000 teachers fight Mayor Rahm Emanuel over benfits and evaluations. As picketing begins, police officers step in to make sure the children stay safe.
