Rebel forces have managed to hold areas across Aleppo but the poorly-armed fighters have called for international supplies of weapons to help combat the helicopter and tank assaults by Assad's forces. In the face of escalating casualties, hundreds of thousands of refugees poured into neighboring countries, forcing Jordan to open a humanitarian camp.
