There was certainly a trend this year among the men of the 85th Academy Awards. The red carpet was a sea of black and white this year as one man after another arrived in a simple black tuxedo, white shirt, and the quintessential black bow tie.

While we all know its hard for the men of the Academy Awards to stand out over the leading ladies, it would have been nice to see a few men push the boundaries and turn some heads.

Though no single man stole the show, there were a few who were able to shine a bit brighter than the rest.

One of the few men who thought outside the box was in fact not a guest of the Academy Awards, but rather a host. Terrence Jenkins of E! stood out from the crowd by wearing a cream-colored tuxedo jacket with a black collar.

By opting for the opposite combination of most men on the carpet, Jenkins set himself apart and made people take notice for all the right reasons.

Two other men who defied the traditional black tuxedo tonight are Daniel Day- Lewis and Christoph Waltz. Both men arrived in navy blue tuxedos with white shirts and black bowties. Day-Lewis and Waltz did look incredibly similar, but luckily both looked highly-styled and well-dressed. The men’s slight divergence from black was certainly noticed and appreciated.

There were a few more men who stood out on the carpet, even though they stuck with the traditional black tuxedo. Channing Tatum and Joseph Gordon- Levitt looked sharper than the rest in their well-fitted suits.

Though Tatum was standing next to his beautiful wife, Jenna Dewan-Tatum, no one could help but notice how handsome he looked on his own. The always dapper Joseph Gordon- Levitt looked great walking the carpet in his black tuxedo, white shirt, and black bow tie. Maybe it was simply his irresistible charm, but whatever the reason Gordon-Levitt was certainly noticed on the red carpet tonight.
