Will “Good Day L.A.” Succeed Without Jillian Barberie And Dorothy Lucey?

There’s more changes for one of Los Angeles’ most popular morning news programs. Viewers of KTTV’s “Good Day L.A.” can expect to see a lot less of Jillian Barberie Reynolds starting this week.

Reynolds announced via Twitter last Thursday she would no longer be apart of “Good Day L.A.” She later clarified in a blog post why she was leaving. “I wasn’t let go as in ‘fired.’ Fox was trying to find something for me to do a few times a week,” Reynolds explained. “But the truth is I loved being on set… I could not imagine doing any other role on that show.”
The announcement of Reynold’s departure comes months after Dorothy Lucey’s contract wasn’t renewed at the end of May. At the same time, Reynolds’ role changed as she began contributing to the morning show a few times a week instead of Monday through Friday.
According to Deadline Hollywood, the reasons for the host changes include lower ratings and salaries too high to meet. Steve Edwards, traffic reporter Rick Dickert and weather anchor Maria Quiban will be the morning team starting Monday morning at 7 a.m. In addition, former LXTV and TV Guide host Maria Sansone will begin a permanent role of co-anchor replacing Lucey.
