Donatella Versace is the newest commander of the most fashionable army that ever existed. Her latest line will be in the fight for the best designs during Milan Fashion Week.

Versace begins with strong, military-esque jackets and jumpsuits, with the first half of the collection is a mix of dark greens, khakis and black. The jackets are pulled together by a thick, striped belt that really complete the look. This theme of her collection focuses more on the strong and independent woman. With dark and neutral colors, the designs seem to empower the women who are wearing her clothes. Versace pairs these simplistic yet elegant styles with incredibly high heels. This is a stark contrast to what one might usually imagine a military-inspired outfit with. A unique part of the collection was that she used colors like olive green in designing a suit, offering a more edgy look than the traditional black, navy or gray suit.

Let’s face it though, the revamped army look has been done before, but Versace isn’t done just yet. The following animal print designs were dominated by bright oranges, purples and greens. There is no article of clothing that Versace doesn’t splatter these prints on-- suits, dresses, shirts, skirts and more.

The collection then takes a darker turn as the color palette changes from vibrant to dark. Burgundy and solid black dresses and suits flood the runway. It’s not all serious though. Versace features black sheer, playful dresses--testing the boundaries of provocativeness.

Through and through, the line that Versace presented for SS16 was unexpected. Pastels and floral prints usually flood one’s mind when thinking about Spring but Versace offers a dark yet fun twist to her latest collection. This line is a definite must for any daring, edgy women.
