Ah, feuds. Try as one might, it’s hard not to keep looking and tuning into the latest fights between the rich and famous. You tell yourself it’s just a way for those people to stay relevant and you try not to give in. Then an article pops up on your Twitter timeline or your Facebook news feed, and you’re hooked: a "They said WHAT?" followed by a "OH MY GOD I CAN’T BELIEVE IT."

For those of you who are moderately intrigued, or for those who just want a recap and relive some of these crazy, often petty feuds, here’s just a few of the most talked-about tiffs so far this year.

Meek Mill vs. Drake

The most recent of these disputes occurred when rapper Meek Mill decided to take on Drake and accused him of using ghostwriters on some of his tracks. Other rappers decided to comment on the situation, with an interesting balance of support for both sides.

Meek Mill, who is currently on tour with girlfriend Nicki Minaj, commented on the drama during one of their stops. Nicki is known to be friends with Drake, collaborating with him a handful of times, so Meek personally apologized to her “for my crazy ass going crazy on Twitter.” He also wished Drake luck on everything. Drake’s response wasn’t all that civil, packing a punch and a beat. The Canadian-born rapper dropped not one, but TWO diss tracks allegedly aimed at Meek Mill. All that Meek had to say: “"I heard that shit, that shit was very soft. Baby lotion soft.”

There does not seem to be an end in sight when it comes to this feud. But if more tracks come out from it, maybe it’s for the better? Stay tuned.

Azealia Banks vs. Erykah Badu

Azealia Banks has never been one to shy away from publicly calling out anyone from fellow musicians to public figures. Just check out this extensive list here.

A new addition to the list this year is R&B singer Erykah Badu. In February, Badu received a tweet asking if she had listened to Banks’ music, to which she simply replied with, “Tried.” This led to Banks responding, citing Badu’s succinct response as jealousy and, according to a follow-up tweet, a way to “throw shade at younger spirits.”

It did not stop there, with Badu responding and (here’s the kicker) turning on her location. After another diss from Banks about her “head wraps” and “musky oils off the table on 125th,” Badu decided to end the spat by shrugging it off and wishing Banks a happy Valentine’s Day.

Even after all that, Azealia Banks still went on a mini rant and said that Erykah Badu’s actions were “childish.” Banks also wondered why she never got her address. That may have been for the better, since it's doubtful Azealia was planning on dropping by with a bouquet of “I’m sorry” flowers and lunch.

Taylor Swift vs. Nicki Minaj

After the MTV Video Music Award nominations list came out, recently immortalized Nicki Minaj took to Twitter and questioned why “Anaconda” wasn’t among the few nominated for the coveted Video of the Year award. She attributed this to the fact that “If your video celebrates women with very slim bodies, you will be nominated for vid of the year” followed by a seemingly never-ending row of ironic smiling emojis. Many considered it a fantastic example of subtweeting. One of those many people? Video of the Year nominee and self-described feminist Taylor Swift.

A few minutes later, Taylor makes Nicki an offer: to come up on stage with her if she wins for her “Bad Blood” video. 
Nicki clarified that the tweet was not a direct attack at Taylor, and that the pop star shouldn’t speak on this. At this point, those of us with way less than 20 million followers started forming an opinion on this whole predicament. A few days (and possibly many other feuds) later, the artists put the issue behind them, with Taylor apologizing directly and Nicki accepting said-apology.

But really, should Taylor have said anything? Will Nicki indeed go on stage with her if she wins? More importantly, why aren’t we more upset over Katy Perry’s super confusing, grammatically awful tweet about this feud? Only time and the VMA broadcast will tell.

Iggy Azalea vs. Britney Spears

How much more poetic can you get than a feud spawned by a failed collaboration? This is the case of Iggy, Britney, and their flop of a song “Pretty Girls.”

After the song had a lukewarm performance on the charts, Iggy blamed it on Britney’s lack of promotion since Iggy’s mere featured spot made it tough to promote the track on her own. She also responded to an article tweeted out talking about the shade Iggy threw, saying that her stance was “factual” and that she doesn’t have an obligation to kiss up to Britney (“kiss up” is certainly cleaning up the original language used in the tweet). Azalea also clarified that she was not throwing any shade. She was just being a genuine friend!

Meanwhile, Spears did not comment directly on this. However, unlike Azalea’s denial, she may have taken the shadier route when tweeting about how “thankful” she was for her residency in Las Vegas, guaranteeing her “shows for the rest of the year to look forward to....” This may have been a dig at Azalea, who had announced the cancellation of her tour a month earlier. Ouch.

Zayn Malik vs. Louis Tomlinson, then Zayn vs. Naughty Boy

1D fans, you may want to sit down for this one. It’s definitely not one of the higher points of your favorite boy band’s history.

After the sad departure of Zayn Malik from the group, rumors began circulating of a solo career in collaboration with music producer Naughty Boy. Less than a week later, the frenzy continued when fellow band member Louis Tomlinson grew angry at the producer for wanting to get the fans riled up after retweeting a video about “Zaughty” (Zayn and Naughty Boy). A few hours later, Naughty Boy leaked a demo of what seems to Zayn singing on his own.

Things seemed to cool down for the time being. But it doesn’t end there! In May, Naughty Boy tweeted a photo of him and Malik accompanied by a simple “Replace this” caption. Tomlinson then rose from his virtual abode and accused Naughty Boy of riding on Malik’s famous coattails. For the former band member, the feud between his new producer friend and Tomlinson had gone on long enough, and Zayn finally spoke out. He reminded Louis of a time when he wasn’t so critical of him and would mind his own business instead.

Tomlinson also indirectly criticized Naughty Boy’s use of Mac filters, but, come on, that’s way too easy.

Plot twist! Over a month later, Zayn called his now-former friend a “fat joke” and put this dynamic duo to rest. He did not, however, put his solo career dreams to rest, signing with RCA Records a few weeks ago.
