Staff Reporter

You might not know exactly what it is but chances are if you're on social media, you've definitely heard of it.

I'm talking about Black twitter, an online community described as "its own society within Twitter, replete with inside jokes, slang and rules, centered on the interests of young blacks online" by The Washington Post.

Dayna Chatman is a doctoral candidate in Communication at the University of Southern California's Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism and the lead researcher on the Black Twitter Project, an in-depth investigation of the online community.

Below is an interview between staff reporter Jessica Moulite and Chatman about her work, the dynamics of Black twitter, and more.
