As the votes trickle in from today's election, voters are saying, "yes" to Charter Amendments 1 and 2. Both amendments are up by about a three to one ratio.

Charter Amendment 1 would change L.A. City elections to even number years and Charter Amendment 2 would do the same for LAUSD elections.

Proponents of the amendments say this change would create a higher interest in voting because the election would line up with the general election for president. Opponents of the measure fear it will create costly budgeting hassles.

In the first set of returns, at 8:30p.m., the Los Angeles City Clerk reported that both amendments have 77 percent of the vote.
