Harvard-Westlake School’s proposed parking deck was a contentious issue among voters in the 2nd District Tuesday. School backers are hoping the City Council will approve the new structure but opponents say the project will eliminate much-needed green space.

Incumbent Paul Krekorian has not publicly supported the development whereas challenger Eric Preven, a Studio City writer, producer, and consultant, has come out against the project.

Many opponents of the parking structure have backed Preven.
In 2013, the private school proposed adding a three-story parking structure with 750 spaces, eliminating green space in Studio City.
The Los Angeles City Council plans to vote on the parking deck in the coming months.
