A University of Southern California student was critically injured after being struck by a car at the intersection of Jefferson Boulevard and McClintock Avenue on the edge of campus.

Four students were struck while crossing the street when a 23-year-old driver lost control of her car, hitting both the pedestrians and a light pole, which came crashing to the ground.

Both the driver and one pedestrian were taken to the hospital. The Los Angeles Police Department hasn’t yet released the names or conditions of the two injured.

In 2009, a USC student died crossing the same intersection, resulting in concern about the intersection's saftey and proposals for a pedestrain footbridge.
