It was a double whammy for USC Men's Basketball Wednesday night. After losing 70-66 to Washington State, head coach Andy Enfield announced that freshman point guard Jordan McLaughlin will have shoulder surgery and is out for the rest of the season. He could have surgery on both shoulders, and is expected to be out the next 5 to 6 months.

USC's top-rated and consensus Top 50 recruit for this year's freshman class, McLaughlin averaged 12.1 points, 4.5 assists, 3.0 rebounds and 1.5 steals in 22 games, leading the Trojans with 31.6 minutes per game. He was fifth in the Pac-12 in assists and steals per game.

The announcement doesn't come as a huge surprise, as McLaughlin had missed the last four games to injury. "Man that's tough. Got to keep getting better. Way to fight fellas," McLaughlin tweeted Wednesday night

Sophomore point guard Julian Jacobs  has averaged 12.3 points and 7.0 assists in 34 minutes per game in the past four games with McLaughlin out, and should continue to receive heavy usage in the Trojans' final stretch. USC closes out the regular season at UCLA next Wednesday, before playing their Pac-12 Tournament opener on March 11.
