Sports SCene: Episode 3

USC men's basketball takes on the Oregon schools as they continue to struggle. The Trojans have lost to a record 8 Pac-12 schools in a row, and are looking for their first victory in over a month.

"We just gotta keep playing like we have been, playing to the end of the game, said redshirt sophomore guard Katin Reinhardt.

Sports SCene contributors Jeremy Bergman and Jacob Freedman had a fervent "Trojan Hoarse" debate on the state of the program where they talked about whether head coach Andy Enfield deserves a third season.

"He's made no improvement on the team. The Pac-12 is one of the worst Power-5 conferences in college basketball, and still USC is always second to last or last," said Bergman.

"If you're trying to build a basketball program, you can't be recycling coaches every two years," said Freedman.

USC faces Oregon on Wednesday night, and Oregon State on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the women's basketball team is heading up north to take on Stanford and Cal. The Trojans are coming off a strong homestand over Utah and Colorado. USC beat Stanford in the Pac-12 tournament last year, and take on Stanford at a perfect time, after they have dropped 2 straight.

The baseball team is kicking off the 2015 season against Towson in a 3-game series starting on Friday. This year, the team has 19 upperclassmen, led by junior pitchdr Kyle Davis. Davis, who was an all Pac-12 player last season, joined us in studio to talk about the team's hopes this season.

"We have a little bit of higher expectations. We think not only getting in, but we want to host regional," said Davis.

All around campus, there's lots of action going on this weekend.

The track and field team is heading to New Mexico and Seattle for meets this weekend.

"For indoor, I'd like to see everybody improve their personal best and try to get as high as possible on the national qualifying list," said Director of Track & Field Caryl Smith Gilbert.

The #2 men's volleyball team is getting ready to host consecutive matches against #7 BYU for the top spot in the MPSF. The Trojans and Cougars are both 7-1 record in the MPSF. Even with the possible top spot in the MPSF, the Trojans are taking things one game at a time.

"We're just looking week by week. We have a lot of good matches and a really tough schedule," said senior middle blocker Robert Feathers.

And, the women's water polo team is heading down to Riverside for the Lancer Invitational. They'll take on 4 teams over 2 days.

"We've been focusing on defense, transitioning again into the fast break, and using speed to our advantage," said senior driver Monica Vavic.

We broke down the best, most random athlete tweets of the week, with sophomore safety Su'a Cravens taking the top prize with his tweet after signing day.

"I will be taking my talents to Freebirds for a monster burrito," tweeted Cravens.

The show also showed off a new segment, "Storm on the Street," where Sports SCene reporter Jodee Sullivan channeled Jimmy Kimmel and asked some difficult questions to USC students about the men's basketball program.
